Carihuairazo Volcano Laguna Congelada Tour

At 8 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa. We will travel west by minibus for approximately two hours to the Chimborazo Fauna Production Reserve.

Upon arrival, you will view the Chimborazo volcano, the highest peak in Ecuador at 20,700 feet (6,310 meters), and the nearby Carihuairazo volcano, our destination for the day.

We will begin a 3-hour hiking route exploring the wilderness around the two volcanoes. The hike will feature snowy terrain with high peaks and valleys until we reach the frozen lagoon of Carihuairazo, known as Laguna Congelada.

While at the lagoon, we will discuss its formation millions of years ago due to the melting of the glacier from the Carihuairazo volcano. Following this, we will take a break for a picnic consisting of a sandwich, fruit, and juice, before we start our return trek.

After returning to the minibus, we will drive back to your hotel, concluding the excursion at 5 pm.
