Carihuairazo Volcano Laguna Congelada Tour

At 8 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa. We will travel west by minibus for approximately two hours to reach the Chimborazo Fauna Production Reserve.

You will see the Chimborazo volcano, the highest peak in Ecuador at 20,700 feet (6,310 meters). Our target for the day is the Carihuairazo volcano.

We will begin a 3-hour hiking route through the wilderness surrounding the two volcanoes. Expect to walk through snowy terrain with views of high peaks and extensive valleys until we reach the frozen lagoon of Carihuairazo, or Laguna Congelada.

While you take photos of this lagoon, we will explain its formation due to the melting of the glacier of the Carihuairazo volcano.

Next, we will have a break near the lagoon to enjoy a picnic that includes a sandwich, fruit, and juice. After the break, we will begin our descent.

We will return to the minibus and head back to your hotel, concluding the excursion at 5 pm.
