Carihuairazo Volcano Laguna Congelada Tour

At 8 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa. We will travel west by minibus to the Chimborazo Fauna Production Reserve, approximately two hours away.

Upon arrival, you will see the Chimborazo volcano, which stands at 20,700 feet (6,310 meters), making it the highest peak in Ecuador. Nearby is the Carihuairazo volcano, our destination for the day.

We will begin a 3-hour hiking route through the wilderness surrounding both volcanoes. The hike will involve snowy terrain and scenic views of high peaks and extensive valleys until we reach the frozen lagoon of Carihuairazo, known as Laguna Congelada.

While taking pictures of this icy lagoon, we will explain how it was formed millions of years ago by the melting of the glacier of the Carihuairazo volcano.

Next, we will take a break next to the frozen lagoon to enjoy a picnic that includes a sandwich, fruit, and juice. After the break, we will start our return journey.

Upon returning to the minibus, we will head back to your hotel, concluding the excursion at 5 pm.
