2-Day Cerro Puñay Adventure
Day 1
Beginning with a pickup from your accommodation in Baños de Agua Santa at 7 am, we will embark on a journey southwest toward Cerro Puñay. En route to our destination, we will pause at several scenic viewpoints, allowing you to appreciate the stunning landscapes and charming towns within the province of Chimborazo.
To regain our energy, we’ll visit a restaurant in Chunchi for a satisfying meal that includes a main dish accompanied by a drink. After lunch, we’ll commence a 3-hour hike that leads us to the summit of Cerro Puñay, an impressive peak that rises majestically in the Piñancay valley. Throughout our ascent, we’ll explore the history of the Cañari Indigenous Peoples who once thrived in this area.
Reaching an impressive elevation of nearly 10,730 feet (3,270 meters), we will then pitch our tents and head to a nearby viewpoint to witness one of Ecuador's most breathtaking sunsets. Dinner will be served at the campsite, allowing us to unwind and immerse ourselves in the surrounding nature before resting for the night.
Day 2
Our day will begin at 7:30 am with a hearty mountain breakfast. We will then start our descent down Cerro Puñay, bidding farewell to this remarkable location as we make our way to the base, where a minibus will be awaiting us. Our excursion will conclude by 4 pm, dropping you off back at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa.
