Cerro Puñay 2-Day Adventure
Day 1
Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Baños de Agua Santa at 7 am, as we travel southwest toward Cerro Puñay. Along the way, we will pause at various scenic viewpoints to appreciate the stunning landscapes and the charming towns within the Chimborazo province.
To recharge, we will stop at a restaurant in Chunchi for a meal that features a main course and a beverage. After our lunch, we will embark on a 3-hour hike leading us to the peak of Cerro Puñay, a striking solitary mountain nestled in the valley of Piñancay. During the trek, we will discuss the history and culture of the Cañari Indigenous Peoples who once inhabited this area.
Reaching an elevation of approximately 10,730 feet (3,270 meters), we will establish our camping tents upon arrival at the summit. From there, we will proceed to a viewpoint to witness one of the most breathtaking sunsets in Ecuador. An evening meal will be served at the campsite, followed by a tranquil night under the stars, surrounded by nature.
Day 2
Awakening at 7:30 am, we will enjoy a satisfying mountain breakfast. As we begin our descent down Cerro Puñay, we will bid farewell to this remarkable location, making our way to the base where a minibus will meet us. The experience will conclude around 4 pm, with transportation back to your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa.
