Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hiking Tour

Day 1

Between 7 and 8 am, pickup will be at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa. The mountain guide will explain the hiking equipment: outer layer, boots, ropes, harness, crampons, and ice axes. Then, we will head to Riobamba to start the route up the Chimborazo volcano.

We will first climb to a refuge at an elevation of 4,800 meters, followed by a second one at 5,000 meters. There, we will have soup, a meat dish, and juice to refuel. In the afternoon, we will learn basic techniques for the ascent the following day.

Dinner will consist of a meat or chicken dish with juice, after which we will rest until midnight.

Day 2

At midnight, we will wake up to continue the route up the mountain. Before departing, a snack of bread, fruit, and tea or coffee will be provided. We will then commence a six-hour hike to the summit at 6,263 meters of altitude.

At the top, we will explore part of the glacier and enjoy views of the Central Andes. After taking in the scenery, we will return to the refuge.

We will then descend to the base and take the bus back to Baños de Agua Santa, with arrival at your hotel scheduled for 2 pm.

Accommodation

This tour includes one night of lodging at the Condor Cocha mountain refuge in a shared room with a single bed.
