Join this 2-day hiking route up the Chimborazo volcano and reach the summit of the highest peak in Ecuador.

Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hiking Tour

Day 1

Between 7 and 8 am, hotel pick-up in Baños de Agua Santa will occur. The mountain guide will explain the necessary hiking equipment: outer layer, boots, ropes, harness, crampons, and ice axes. We will then proceed to Riobamba to begin the hike up the Chimborazo volcano.

We will first reach a refuge at an elevation of 4,800 meters, followed by a second one at 5,000 meters, where we will enjoy soup, a meat dish, and juice. In the afternoon, basic techniques will be taught for the ascent the next day.

Dinner will consist of a meat or chicken dish with juice, after which we will rest until midnight.

Day 2

At midnight, we will rise for the ascent, starting with a snack of bread, fruit, and tea or coffee. We will then embark on a six-hour hike to the summit at 6,263 meters.

Upon reaching the top of Chimborazo, we will explore part of the glacier and take in views of the Central Andes. The mountain holds historical significance, having been a site for Inca rituals. After enjoying the scenery, we will return to the refuge.

Finally, we will descend to the base and take a bus back to Baños de Agua Santa, with an estimated arrival at your hotel at 2 pm.
