Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hiking Tour

Day 1

Between 7 and 8 am, pickup will be at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa. A mountain guide will explain the hiking equipment needed, including outer layers, boots, ropes, harnesses, crampons, and ice axes. We will travel to Riobamba to start the first leg of the ascent up Chimborazo volcano.

We will first climb to a refuge at an elevation of 4,800 meters, then to another at 5,000 meters, where we will have soup, a meat dish, and juice. In the afternoon, we will learn basic techniques for the next day's ascent.

Dinner will consist of a meat or chicken dish with juice, followed by rest until midnight.

Day 2

At midnight, we will start the route up the mountain after having a snack of bread, fruit, and tea or coffee. We will begin a six-hour hike to the summit at 6,263 meters altitude.

Upon reaching the top of Chimborazo, we will explore part of the glacier and enjoy views of the Central Andes. Following the summit experience, we will return to the refuge.

We will then descend to the base and take a bus back to Baños de Agua Santa, with an estimated arrival at your hotel by 2 pm.

This tour includes one night of lodging at the Condor Cocha mountain refuge in a shared room with a single bed.
