Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hiking Adventure

Day 1

We will commence our journey with a pickup from your accommodation in Baños de Agua Santa between 7:00 and 8:00 am. Prior to our departure, the mountain guide will provide an overview of the hiking gear essentials, including the outer layer, footwear, ropes, harnesses, crampons, and ice axes. Our next stop will be Riobamba, which marks the beginning of our ascent towards the Chimborazo volcano.

Initially, we will ascend to a refuge situated at an altitude of 4,800 meters, followed by another one at 5,000 meters. Here, a nutritious meal comprising soup, a meat dish, and juice will replenish our energy. Later in the day, we will engage in a session to learn fundamental climbing techniques for the upcoming summit push.

Dinner will consist of a meat or chicken dish accompanied by juice, after which we'll rest until midnight.

Day 2

At the stroke of midnight, we will rise to continue our ascent. Before we embark, a light snack of bread, fruit, and tea or coffee will fortify us. Energized, we will undertake a six-hour trek to the summit, reaching an impressive altitude of 6,263 meters.

Upon arriving at the summit of Chimborazo, we will explore the glacier that crowns this majestic peak and savor breathtaking views of the Central Andes. It's fascinating to note that the Inca civilization conducted rituals and offerings at this sacred site. After reveling in the magnificent scenery, we will make our way back to the refuge.

In conclusion, we will descend to the base and board the bus for our return journey to Baños de Agua Santa. The expected arrival at your hotel is around 2:00 pm.
