Cotopaxi Volcano 2-Day Trek
Day 1
Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa between 7:00 and 8:00 am. Prior to departure, a detailed briefing will be provided regarding the use of crampons, ice axes, and essential mountain trekking techniques.
The first destination is the Cotopaxi volcano. A short drive will take us to a parking area near the mountain, from where we will trek up to a refuge located at an altitude of 14,763 feet (4,500 meters). Upon reaching the refuge, you will enjoy a restorative meal featuring soup, meat, and juice.
Afterward, we will venture into the glacier zone for a comprehensive introduction to ice trekking techniques. As night approaches, we will gather for a hearty dinner of meat or chicken accompanied by juice.
Day 2
At 12 am, we will rise early to prepare for our summit bid. Before departing the refuge, a light snack of bread, fruit, and tea or coffee will be provided. We will then embark on a six-hour trek aiming to reach an altitude of 19,347 feet (5,897 meters).
Upon reaching the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Andes. Did you know that the Cotopaxi volcano has experienced significant ash eruptions?
Following our descent, we will return to the lodge to recover with coffee and fruit. By approximately 2 pm, we will make our way back to your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa.
