2-Day Trekking Adventure to Cotopaxi Volcano
Day 1
Starting between 7:00 and 8:00 am, we will meet at your accommodation in Baños de Agua Santa. Before our journey begins, a thorough briefing will be provided on the use of crampons, ice axes, and essential mountain trekking skills.
We will then make our way to the charming Cotopaxi volcano. Our first stop will be a designated parking area, where we’ll embark on a hike towards a refuge situated at an elevation of 14,763 feet (4500 meters). Upon reaching our destination, a warming meal of soup, meat, and juice will await to restore our energy.
Following this, we will explore the glacier area and receive comprehensive training on ice trekking techniques. As night falls, a hearty dinner comprising meat or chicken and juice will cap off our day.
Day 2
At the stroke of 12 am, we'll rise to prepare for our ascent to the summit. Prior to our departure from the refuge, a light snack including bread, fruit, and tea or coffee will energize us. We will then commence a six-hour trek that leads us to an impressive height of 19,347 feet (5897 meters).
Upon our arrival, breathtaking panoramic views of the Andes mountains will greet us. You might find it fascinating that the Cotopaxi volcano has a history of significant ash emissions.
After taking in the sights, we will retrace our steps back to the lodge, where coffee and fruit will help us regain our strength. Finally, we will head back to your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa, estimated to arrive by 2 pm.
