Two-Day Trekking Adventure at Tungurahua Volcano

Day 1

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Baños de Agua Santa at 8:30 am. Prior to departure, we will provide an essential briefing on safety protocols and the gear necessary for our ascent. Following this preparation, we will head towards the majestic Tungurahua volcano.

Upon reaching our destination, we will embark on a 3-hour trek leading to the Garganta de Fuego refuge, situated at an elevation of 12,634 feet (3,851 meters). Once settled at the lodge, a nourishing soup, a meat dish, and juice await you. The afternoon will be spent discovering the local area and getting ready for the upcoming climb.

Later in the evening, a delightful dinner featuring either meat or chicken along with juice will be served, after which you can rest up for an exciting tomorrow.

Day 2

We will rise early, around 1 am, to energize ourselves with coffee, bread, and fruit, fueling up for our final ascent! The next six hours will challenge us as we tackle the path to the summit of Mama Tungurahua. This stratovolcano is known for its constant activity, and from the peak, you will be captivated by the breathtaking views of the sunrise over the Andes.

Following our descent back to the refuge, we will continue downward to the parking area, where a minibus will transport us back to Baños de Agua Santa, arriving around 2 pm.
