Lodz Private Tour
At the time you choose, we'll meet at the main door of Planetarium EC1. From here, we'll start a private tour of Lodz to discover the commercial past of this Polish city.
We'll go to the industrial area to learn about the origin of the prosperity of this municipality. Did you know that it was the textile production centre of the Russian Empire? Due to the number of factories that existed, hundreds of Jews and Germans emigrated to Lodz in the 19th century.
Our first stop will be in the heart of the city, Ulica Piotrkowska Street, a 4-kilometre boulevard full of museums, bars, theatres, and shops. This street was badly damaged after the Second World War, but from 1990 a restoration was started that turned it into the central artery of Lodz.
At the end of the avenue, we'll come across the Izrael Palace Pozna?ski, a neo-Renaissance and neo-Baroque building erected thanks to the cotton industry. Its facilities include the city museum, which houses a large numismatic collection, sculptures, manuscripts, and graphics.
Next, we'll arrive at the Manufaktura, a large red brick shopping centre that was the exploitation complex of philanthropist Izrael Pozna?ski. We'll admire the structure by looking at some details such as the main door of the old spinning mill, resembling a triumphal arch.
After a four-hour visit, the tour will end.
