On this day trip to the Churchill War Rooms and the Blenheim Palace from London, participants will trace the footsteps of Winston Churchill, from his birthplace to the secret bunker where he influenced Great Britain's fate during World War II.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, a meeting will take place at Bulleid Way, near Victoria Station. This excursion provides a chance to delve into war history and the British aristocracy, leaving behind the busy city of London to explore locations that shaped one of the 20th century's most notable figures.

The first stop will be the Churchill War Rooms. This visit includes the original underground bunker, which functioned as a secret headquarters during the war. Participants will navigate the preserved corridors, untouched since 1945, witnessing the Cabinet War Rooms, where pivotal decisions were made, and the Map Room, still displaying the original pins used to track troop movements across Europe.

After uncovering the secrets of the bunker, the next destination will be Blenheim Palace, a Baroque masterpiece located in Oxfordshire, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Completed in 1722, this remarkable structure is celebrated as the birthplace of Winston Churchill and serves as the ancestral home of the Dukes of Marlborough.

Visitors will explore the opulent State Rooms, appreciating the extensive collection of portraits and tapestries, and will visit the Gran Biblioteca as well as the exhibition dedicated to Churchill. There will also be an opportunity to wander through the expansive grounds, covering over 1976 acres (800 hectares) of parks and gardens, designed by the renowned landscape artist Capability Brown. The display "Life Below Stairs" will provide insight into service life during that era.

This day trip concludes 10.5 hours later with a return to the starting point in London.
