At the indicated time, we'll meet at 815 Toulouse Street and start this guided tour of the French Quarter of New Orleans. Our first stop will be Bourbon Street, spanning 13 blocks, where you'll learn about the city's beginnings and discover the best bars, restaurants, and hidden gems.
Our route continues up Royal Street, known for its art galleries and antique shops. We'll pass by the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, housed in a townhouse built in 1822–1823, once the residence of the first licensed pharmacist in the U.S.
Another key site is the St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest Catholic church in the U.S., and the Cabildo, which served as the seat of colonial power in Louisiana.
Along our walk, we'll explore the city's architecture and cultural impact, discussing the origins of styles and influential figures in food, music, and festivals. We will address topics such as Voodoo, Mardi Gras, the meaning of lagniappe, the differences between Creole and Cajun, and more.
After approximately 2 hours of discovering the French Quarter, we'll conclude the tour at Jackson Square. See you next time!
