On this guided tour of the Loulé salt mine, you'll learn about one of the oldest trades in the Algarve. You'll discover its galleries and the hard work that goes on here.

Loulé Salt Mine Tour

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Loulé salt mine and start a guided tour inside. We'll first take an elevator that will take us down 754.5 ft (230 meters) deep.

Then, we'll step out onto the saline floor and follow a circular path through some of the mine's galleries. During the visit, we'll admire the size and beauty of its walls, formed by salt rocks of various colors from more than 230 million years ago.

We'll also learn about the salt extraction process and the evolution of the engineering and mining machinery that has been used to carry out this work.

Finally, after 1.5 hours of exploring the Loulé salt mine, we'll end the tour by returning outside.
