We will convene at Piazzale Giuseppe Verdi? at the scheduled time, ready to set out towards the walls of Lucca. Prepare to delve into the history of this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site.

Throughout the tour, we will take a step back in time from the 13th to the 17th centuries, uncovering the advancements in military engineering throughout Italy. Notably, the walls of Lucca were never utilized for military defense due to prolonged peace, allowing them to remain largely untouched up to the current day.

This network of fortifications is now integrated into a public park, brimming with green spaces that encircle the city. We will stroll and appreciate these impressive walls from both sides, including a journey through the inner galleries where cannons and ammunition were historically stored.

Our journey will also lead us to key bastions like San Donato and Santa Maria. We will examine the functions these strategic points served within the overall wall system and discuss the restoration efforts that have taken place over recent years.
