Mount Rigi Day Trip

Have you heard of the Queen of the Alps? Discover its landscapes on this day trip to Mount Rigi, where we'll travel by boat, rack railway and cable car.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet at pier 1 on Lake Lucerne. From here, we'll embark on a leisurely boat trip across Lake Lucerne.

After an hour's cruise, we'll disembark at the quay in Vitznau. Here, we'll board the first rack railway in Europe, dating back to 1871. The journey takes just over half an hour and ends at Rigi Kulm Station, located at 1,797 metres (5,895 feet) above sea level.

You will have 2 hours of free time on Mount Rigi to have lunch and enjoy views of the lakes and mountains of the Swiss Alps. At the indicated time, we'll reconvene at Rigi Kulm Station to take the rack railway to Rigi Kaltbad, a mountain village where motor vehicles are prohibited.

You can explore at your leisure, with the Känzeli lookout point as a main attraction. After enjoying the views, we'll meet at Rigi Kaltbad Station to take a cable car to Weggis, described by Mark Twain as the "most charming place" in the world.

Finally, from Weggis, we'll return by boat to the docks in Lucerne harbour, concluding this 10-hour activity.

Partial Closures

On April 1 and 2, 2026, from November 16 to 27, 2026 and from March 8 to 31, 2027, the cable car will be undergoing maintenance. During these periods, both the ascent and descent will be made by rack railway.
