Description
On the day of your tour, you will be picked up from your hotel in Lugo and travel to the town of Castro de Rei, home to the ancient ruins of Castro de Viladonga. Upon arrival, you will begin a guided tour of the archaeological site, learning about the culture, customs, and lifestyle of the Celtic people who resided here thousands of years ago. You will see preserved remains of city walls, houses, and public buildings, gaining insight into the "Castro culture" of these fortified settlements in north-western Spain and Portugal.
Your visit will continue at the Castro de Viladonga Archaeological Museum where exhibitions, including scale models and artifacts, will enhance your understanding of daily life in pre-Roman Galicia.
Following the museum, the tour will take you to Fonmiñá Lake near Meira, where you can enjoy the natural landscapes surrounding the source of the Miño River and learn about local legends related to the springs from Pedregal de Irimia.
At the conclusion of your tour, you will return to your minibus for the trip back to Lugo.
Important information
This excursion includes a pick-up service from hotels in Lugo around 9:30 am. If you are not staying in the city, you can meet at Praza de Bretaña at 10 am.
