On this excursion we'll leave Luxor behind, making our way to Abydos and Dendera, two cities on the banks of the Nile where fascinating temples can be found.

Itinerary

Having picked you up at your hotel or boat, we'll leave Luxor behind, heading to Abydos, located 260 km northeast of the city. In Abydos, we'll visit its famous temple, constructed by Set I in honour of Osiris. This temple features important scenes from the lives of Set I and Ramses II, as well as the Royal Lists, which contain the names of 77 kings of Egypt from Menes to Set I.

Abydos was the most significant religious centre and pilgrimage site in Egypt, showcasing representations of the "Mysteries of Osiris," a ceremony symbolizing the death and resurrection of the God Osiris. We will then enjoy a picnic lunch before proceeding to Dendera.

The Dendera Temple, dedicated to the goddess Hathor, began construction under Nectanebo I and continued into the Roman period. This temple includes two decorated crypts, two halls with column-supported ceilings, and two funeral chapels, featuring the famous zodiac from the Louvre. After a final stop at the Temple of Isis, we will return to Luxor, dropping you off between 5 and 6 pm.
