Abydos & Dendera Temple Day Trip

On this day trip, we'll leave Luxor behind, making our way to Abydos and Dendera, two cities on the banks of the Nile where fascinating temples can be found.

Day Trip Details

After picking you up at your hotel or boat, we'll travel to Abydos, located 260 km northeast of Luxor. In Abydos, we will visit the famous temple built by Set I in honor of Osiris, which includes significant scenes from the lives of Set I and Ramses II, as well as the Royal Lists, detailing the names of the 77 kings of Egypt from Menes to Set I. Abydos was a crucial religious center and pilgrimage site in Egypt, featuring representations of the "Mysteries of Osiris," a ceremony symbolizing the death and resurrection of Osiris.

We will have a picnic lunch before proceeding to Dendera. The Dendera Temple, dedicated to the goddess Hathor, began construction in the reign of Nectanebo I and continued into the Roman period. The temple includes two decorated crypts, two halls with column-supported ceilings, and two funeral chapels, where the famous "zodiac" from the Louvre originated.

After a final stop at the Temple of Isis, we will head back to Luxor, returning you to your accommodations between 5 and 6 pm.

Hotel Pickup

This activity includes pickup and drop-off at hotels and boats on the eastern banks of the River Nile in Luxor. Return will be to the same location as pickup. For hotels or boats located on the western banks, a meeting point will be confirmed on the eastern side.
