At 8:00 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Machala and travel east to Portovelo. We will visit the Magnet Turner Mineralogical Museum in the municipality of El Oro to learn about the area's stones and minerals.

The next stop is Zaruma, one of Ecuador's oldest cities. During the walking tour of its historic centre, we will explore landmarks such as the Virgen del Carmen church, the Plaza de la Independencia, and the colorful wooden houses.

Underneath the city lies an extensive network of tunnels. We will enter the El Sexmo mine to observe the daily life of the workers and learn about the main minerals extracted.

During the mine visit, we will see carts, safety suits, and various elements typical of this historical trade in Zaruma.

We will return to the minibus and head back to Machala, arriving at 2:00 pm.
