Explore one of the last Inca strongholds on this excursion to Vitcos, where the Inca leaders of Vilcabamba ruled - a place full of ancient history!

Vitcos Excursion

Pick-up from your hotel starts at 4 am for a journey across the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Travel through the Abra Málaga Route, witnessing peaks up to 4,316 meters high, and descend into the Lucumayo Valley.

Arrive in Huancacalle for a breakfast break on your own. Next, begin a hike to Vitcos, known as Rosaspata, an archaeological site connected to Inca resistance in the 16th century along with Hatun Vilcabamba and Espíritu Pampa.

Discover the history of the four Incas of Vilcabamba during the tour, including their significance in this sacred location as a stronghold during resistance.

Tour the fortresses and funerary monuments of Vitcos, featuring pink stone constructions organized into three sectors: the main square, ceremonial monuments, and Ñusta Hispana. Notable sites include the Wanca, believed to possess energy, and the "White Rock," a sacred stone depicting the Inca Cross or Chakana.

After exploring Vitcos, commence the return journey, stopping in the town of Lucma to view the colonial Baroque-style church of San Pedro and San Pablo, known for its unique bell tower and murals.

Following a lunch stop at a local restaurant on your own, return to your hotel by 9 pm.
