Pico Island Wine Tour
We'll start this wine tour around Pico Island at the scheduled time from the Cais da Madalena Pico.
Our first stop will be at Moinho do Frade, recognized for the surrounding wine-growing landscapes, which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The tour will continue to the Cooperativa do Vinho, where we'll enjoy a tasting of various white, red, and liqueur wines, including Frei Gigante, the best-known white wine in the Azores.
Afterwards, we'll have lunch at a restaurant featuring fresh local products such as tuna or meats, accompanied by Pico wine.
We'll then walk through black villages built with volcanic stones to reach Madalena. On the outskirts of this town is the Wine Museum, where we will visit its vineyards, wine presses, and learn about vine treatment. The largest dragon trees on the island of Pico are also found here.
We'll go to a winery for a second tasting of local wines, including the traditional Verdelho do Pico.
The tour will conclude 8 hours after departure back at the starting point.
