Market Tour of Chennai

We will meet in front of the statue of King George V, in the city center, to begin our tour of Chennai's markets and bazaars.

Our first stop is Sowcarpet, one of the oldest commercial areas in the city. Stroll along the streets and stalls while learning about Chennai's trading history, from its origins to the present day.

Next, we will walk to Godown Street, known for textiles, dresses, saris, and other Indian garments. Our guide will explain the traditional uses of these outfits, and you can buy one as a souvenir.

After Godown Street, we will proceed to Black Town and George Town, characterized by bustling alleys, street sellers, and artisan market stalls, offering an authentic Indian shopping experience.

We will then visit Parry's Corner market, popular among locals and tourists, where each street focuses on specific products such as saris, rugs, handicrafts, and lamps.

The tour concludes at Burma Bazaar, managed by refugees from Myanmar, where you can find tech products and perfumes at attractive prices.
