Market Tour of Chennai

We will meet in front of the statue of King George V in the city center. The tour will begin with a visit to Sowcarpet, one of the oldest and most significant commercial areas in the city. As you walk through the streets and stalls, you will learn about the trading history of Chennai.

The next stop is Godown Street, the top destination for textiles, dresses, saris, and various Indian garments. Our guide will provide insights into the traditional uses of these outfits, and you may purchase one as a souvenir from your experience.

After Godown Street, we will proceed to Black Town and George Town, known for their bustling alleys, street vendors, and colorful artisan market stalls, showcasing the true essence of Indian shopping.

Next, we will visit Parry's Corner market, favored by both locals and tourists, where each street specializes in specific products like saris, rugs, handicrafts, and lamps.

The tour concludes at Burma Bazaar, run by refugees from Myanmar, offering an array of tech products and perfumes at competitive prices.
