Day Trip Details
We'll meet on Calle San Bernardo and leave Madrid for Alcalá de Henares, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
After about an hour's journey, we will begin a guided tour of Alcalá de Henares, lasting one and a half hours. This will include a tour of its famous university, founded in 1499 by Cardinal Cisneros, and a visit to the Plaza de Cervantes, home to the Corral de Comedias, one of the oldest public theaters in Europe.
We will then walk along Calle Mayor to visit the Cervantes Birthplace Museum, where we will learn about life in 17th century Spain. Next, we'll see the church where Cervantes was baptized in 1547 and admire the Alcalá Cathedral, notable for its Elizabethan Gothic style.
After the guided tour, you will have two hours of free time to explore the city independently. We will then regroup at the bus to conclude the tour and return to the starting point.
