Day Trip to Segovia & Ávila
Our journey commences at the designated meeting point in the heart of Madrid, where we will venture northward towards our first destination: the enchanting city of Segovia.
Upon arrival in Segovia, participants who opted for the lunch package will savor a traditional meal. For those who did not select this option, you will have 1.5 hours of leisure time to explore, relax, and admire the highly acclaimed Roman aqueduct, extending an impressive 16 kilometers (10 miles).
Afterward, we will reconvene in front of the Segovia Cathedral to appreciate the grand exterior of this magnificent structure, often referred to as the “Lady of the Spanish Cathedrals.” Our exploration continues as we wander through the historic Jewish quarter, leading us to one of Spain's most striking castles, the Alcázar of Segovia. Here, a guided tour will take you through various chambers once inhabited by the illustrious monarchs of Castile. Following our visit to the Alcázar, we will set off towards Ávila.
In Ávila, the birthplace of Saint Teresa of Ávila, we will encounter the oldest and most intact city walls in Spain, constructed between the 11th and 14th centuries. Throughout our tour, we will observe the 90 defensive turrets and 2,500 meters (8,202 ft) of fortifications encircling the historic center, which houses numerous monuments, including Gothic palaces, Romanesque churches, and a 12th-century fortified cathedral, which we will admire from the outside.
Our excursion will culminate with our return journey to Madrid, where we anticipate arriving after approximately 9 hours.
