The architecture of El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen, the historical heritage of Segovia... Don't miss these jewels just outside Madrid.
Day Trip Details
We leave the Spanish capital at 8:45 am towards the Madrid Sierra mountain range. After approximately 1 hour, we arrive at the San Lorenzo de El Escorial Monastery.
Here, we take a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, addressing questions such as the kings buried in the Royal Pantheon, the favorite rooms of the Asturian and Bourbon monarchs, and the number of books in the Royal Library.
Only 10 minutes from El Escorial is the Valley of the Fallen. We will enter the basilica, dominated by a large cross, while discussing anecdotes from the Spanish Civil War that provide context to the site.
We will then return to Madrid, allowing free time for lunch. At 3 pm, we reconvene to travel to Segovia, where we will enjoy a walking tour of its old town, with much to see beyond the famous aqueduct.
Before concluding the day trip, we will take a guided tour of the Cathedral of Segovia. After the visit, we return to Madrid around 8 pm.
