The architecture of El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen, the historical heritage of Segovia... Don't miss these jewels just outside Madrid.
Day Trip Details
We leave the Spanish capital at 8:45 am towards the Madrid Sierra mountain range. After a journey of around 1 hour, we'll arrive at the San Lorenzo de El Escorial Monastery.
Here we'll enjoy a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, addressing questions about the Royal Pantheon, the preferred rooms of Asturian and Bourbon monarchs, and the Royal Library.
Only 10 minutes from El Escorial is the Valley of the Fallen. We'll enter the basilica beneath a giant cross overlooking Cuelgamuros Valley and learn about the Spanish Civil War to contextualize this historical site.
Afterward, we'll return to Madrid, allowing free time for lunch. Then, at 3 pm, we will head to Segovia, where a walking tour through its old town awaits. The center of Segovia has more to offer than just its renowned aqueduct!
Concluding our day trip, we'll have a guided tour of the interior of the Cathedral of Segovia. Following the visit, we will return to Madrid, arriving around 8 pm.
