Toledo, El Escorial & Valley of the Fallen Day Trip
We'll meet at 8:45 am at 3 Ferraz Street in Madrid. From this central point, we'll leave by bus to San Lorenzo de El Escorial, arriving after a one-hour journey.
There we'll visit the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a 16th-century monument built by King Felipe II. During the tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, we'll look at the Palace of the Habsburgs and the Bourbons, the Pantheon of the Kings and Princes of Spain, the Chapterhouses and the Basilica.
Next, we'll go to the Valley of the Fallen, known for its 150-metre cross. We'll access the crypt, the Basilica of the Valley and enjoy views of the mountainous landscape and Cuelgamuros.
After the visit, we'll return to Madrid, arriving at 2 pm, allowing an hour of free time for lunch. Following lunch, we'll head to Toledo, one of the 15 Spanish cities declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The tour will explore its old town, including the facade of the Primate Cathedral and the Alcazar. We'll conclude with a visit to a traditional workshop to learn about damascene art.
