Toledo, El Escorial & Valley of the Fallen Day Trip
We'll meet at 8:45 am at 3 Ferraz Street in Madrid. From this central point in the Spanish capital, we'll leave by bus to the beautiful town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, arriving after a journey of one hour.
There we'll visit the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, an important monument from the 16th century ordered to be built by King Felipe II. During the tour around this UNESCO World Heritage Site, we'll visit the Palace of the Habsburgs and the Bourbons, the Pantheon of the Kings and Princes of Spain, the Chapterhouses, and the Basilica.
Next, we'll go to the Valley of the Fallen. The cross, standing at 150 metres, is one of the tallest in the world. We'll access the crypt, the Basilica of the Valley, and view the mountainous landscape and Cuelgamuros.
At the end of the visit, we'll return to Madrid, arriving at 2 pm, where you'll have an hour of free time for lunch. After lunch, we'll head to Toledo, one of the 15 Spanish cities declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The tour will take us around its old town, where we'll see the facade of the Primate Cathedral and the Alcazar. To round off our day trip, we'll visit a traditional workshop and discover the art of damascene.
Finally, we'll return to Madrid, arriving at 8 pm in the Plaza de España.
