Explore the enchanting world of Middle-earth on our Lord of the Rings tour from Wellington, and see iconic filming locations full of natural beauty!

Tour Details

During the booking process, you can choose between two tour options. At the designated time, we'll meet at your selected meeting point to begin exploring the filming locations from The Lord of the Rings. Both tours include entry to the Weta Workshop and a guided tour of the studio. Below are the details for each tour:

Half-Day Tour (4 Hours)

We'll leave Wellington and head to Mount Victoria, passing by the Embassy Picture Theatre. At Mount Victoria's lookout, enjoy expansive views. Then, visit Hobbiton Woods to learn about the filmmaking process and memorable scenes.

Next, visit the Miramar Peninsula and the Weta Workshop. Explore the Weta Cave for souvenirs and photo opportunities with Gollum or Bilbo's trolls.
Finally, we will conclude our tour at the bay area that served as part of Rivendell.

Available times: Daily at 8:30 am, 1 pm, and 1:30 pm.

Full-Day Tour (8 hours)

The full-day tour follows a similar itinerary but includes additional stops and insights. After the lookout, head to the Weta Workshop for a behind-the-scenes tour with an artist.

Continue to the shores of the Hutt River, known as the River Anduin, and enjoy a lunch fit for a hobbit at a nearby café. Post-lunch, visit Kaitoke Regional Park, which served as Rivendell, learning how this site transformed into Elrond's house.

Finally, explore the Gardens of Isengard in Harcourt Park before returning to Wellington via the Dry Creek Quarry, site of Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith.

Available time: Daily at 8:30 am.
