Explore the enchanting world of Middle-earth on our Lord of the Rings tour from Wellington, and see iconic filming locations full of natural beauty!
Tour Details
During the booking process, you can choose between two different tour options. At the designated time, we'll meet at your selected meeting point, where we'll visit the filming locations from The Lord of the Rings. Both tours include entry to the Weta Workshop and a guided tour of the studio. Below you'll find further details for each tour:
Half-Day Tour (4 Hours)
We will first visit Mount Victoria, passing by the Embassy Picture Theatre. At Mount Victoria's lookout, we will enjoy views and then explore Hobbiton Woods to discuss the filmmaking process and share stories from The Lord of the Rings.
Next, we will visit the Miramar Peninsula and the Weta Workshop, where you'll learn about the magic of cinema. At the Weta Cave, you will have time to shop for souvenirs and take photos. We will conclude our tour at the bay area that served as Rivendell.
Available times: Daily at 8:30 am, 1 pm, and 1:30 pm.
Full-Day Tour (8 hours)
For the full-day tour, we have a similar itinerary with additional stops and insights. After the lookout, we will visit the Weta Workshop for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, guided by an artist.
Next, we will move to the shores of the Hutt River, known as the River Anduin, and enjoy lunch at a nearby café featuring traditional dishes. Following lunch, we will visit Kaitoke Regional Park, used as Rivendell.
Finally, we will explore the Gardens of Isengard in Harcourt Park and pass by the Dry Creek Quarry on our return.
Available times: Daily at 8:30 am.
