Description
Day 1: Malargüe - El Barroso
We'll meet at El Cisne Hotel in Malargüe, Argentina, to start our 4-day adventure into the Andes. Our first stop is at El Sosneado to visit the National Gendarmerie base. After a lunch break at a typical food cart, we will head to the Atuel River crossing. The hike will take 6.5 hours and the equestrian route will take about 5 hours, with elevations between 1480 metres and 2890 metres. We will set up camp at El Barroso for the night.
Day 2: El Barroso - Valley of Tears - El Barroso
After breakfast, we'll continue to the Valley of Tears, reaching an elevation of 3,700 meters. The foot route will take 9 hours while the horseback route will last between 7 and 8 hours. Here, we will visit the site of the tragic plane crash, commemorating the victims with a moment of silence. Following lunch, we descend back to camp for the night.
Day 3: El Barroso - Malargüe
After breakfast, we pack up camp and head to Ibarra. The return trip will conclude with a horseback (5 hours) or hiking (6.5 hours) trek, followed by a trip to the El Sosneado thermal baths. We will spend our final evening at the Malargüe Hotel and watch a slideshow of our adventures in the Andes.
Day 4: Malargüe
On the final day, we will have breakfast and depart from the Malargüe Hotel, concluding our 4-day experience.
