If you don't want to miss anything on your trip to the Maldives, enjoy a guided tour of Malé plus a tour of the island of Villimale. The best way to see what life is like for locals!
Tour of Malé & Villimale
We'll meet at the port in Malé at 10 am and have a quick walk around, heading towards the oldest school in the city, which boasts a literacy rate of 98%.
After seeing the school, we'll visit the Malé Friday Mosque, the second largest mosque on the island, where our guide will share details about famous individuals interred there.
Next, we'll head to the Royal Garden Café for traditional black tea, followed by a visit to the 3rd November Memorial.
Our next stop will be Sultan Park, also known as Rasrani Park, home to the National Museum. Entrance to the museum is not included.
We'll proceed to the Islamic Centre to learn about the significance of Islam in Malé, then pass by Independence Square, the city's political center rich in history.
Afterwards, we'll visit a fish market to experience local life and enjoy a Maldivan lunch.
Refreshed, we'll take a taxi to the ferry terminal and board a boat to Villimale. This island, previously used as a prison, offers a peaceful escape from city life.
We'll explore for about an hour, learning about the island's lifestyle and meeting members of the local NGO, Save the Beach, who will discuss their environmental efforts.
Finally, we will visit a local café for traditional hedika, a selection of pastries and black tea, before returning to the ferry and heading back to Malé, expected arrival at 5 pm.
