Agiofarago, Matala & Odigitria Jeep Safari
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Malia. We’ll hop on a jeep and venture into inner Crete to visit some of the most magical places on the island.
We’ll traverse vineyard landscapes while learning about the many varieties of grapes and wines produced in Crete. Our first stop will be in Agios Thomas, a small village located at 760 meters (2493 ft) above sea level, where we will visit churches, remains of Byzantine aqueducts, and Roman tombs.
Continuing toward the valley of Messara, we will cross olive groves and arrive at Odigitria Monastery, one of the most famous monasteries in Crete, dating back to the 14th century. After admiring the exterior, we will enter its museum to discover traditional Cretan life objects.
Next, we will head to Agiofarago Gorge. We'll start walking around the gorge, and after a 20-minute walk, we'll reach Agirofarago beach for swimming. Later, you'll have lunch at a local restaurant, enjoying a main course, salad, and dessert.
The last destination will be the unique village of Matala, known for its hippie history in the '70s. You will have free time to explore Matala at your leisure.
Lastly, we'll meet again for the return to Malia, dropping you off at your hotel around 4 pm.
