Discover some of the most fascinating spots in inner Crete on this tour from Malia. You will visit the monastery of Odigitria, stroll around Agiofarago Gorge, and visit Matala, a hippie enclave.

Agiofarago, Matala & Odigitria Jeep Safari

At 8 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Malia. We’ll hop on a jeep and venture into inner Crete to visit some notable places on the island.

We’ll traverse vineyard landscapes while learning about various grapes and wines produced in Crete. Our first stop will be in Agios Thomas, a village located at 760 meters (2493 ft) above sea level. Here, we will enjoy views and visit churches, Byzantine aqueduct remains, and Roman tombs.

Next, we will tour the island towards the valley of Messara. We will cross olive groves and arrive at Odigitria Monastery, known since the 14th century. After admiring its exterior, we will enter its museum to discover objects of traditional Cretan life.

Our next stop is Agiofarago Gorge. We'll walk around the gorge, and after a 20-minute walk, we'll reach Agirofarago beach, where swimming in crystal clear waters is possible. Later, lunch will be provided at a local restaurant, featuring a main course, salad, and dessert.

The last destination will be the village of Matala, known for its hippie history in the '70s. You will have free time to explore Matala at your own leisure.

Finally, we will return to Malia and drop you off at your hotel around 4 pm.
