Agiofarago, Matala & Odigitria Jeep Safari

At 8 am we'll pick you up from your hotel in Malia. We’ll hop on a jeep and venture into inner Crete to visit some of the most magical places on the island.

We’ll traverse beautiful vineyard landscapes as you learn about the many varieties of grapes and wines produced in Crete. Our first stop will be in Agios Thomas, a village located at 760 meters (2493 ft) above sea level. We’ll enjoy views and visit churches, remains of Byzantine aqueducts, and tombs from Roman times.

Next, we will tour the island towards the valley of Messara. We will cross olive groves and arrive at Odigitria Monastery, a notable 14th-century monastery. After admiring its exterior, we will enter its museum to discover traditional Cretan life artifacts.

Our next stop is Agiofarago Gorge. We'll stop at the entrance and start walking through the gorge. After a 20-minute walk, we'll reach Agirofarago beach for swimming. Lunch will be at a local restaurant with a menu that includes a main course, a salad, and dessert.

The last destination will be the village of Matala, known for its history with hippies in the '70s. You will have free time to explore Matala at your leisure.

Finally, we'll return to Malia and drop you off at your hotel around 4 pm.
