Itaimbezinho Canyon Day Trip

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Sítio Cultural Museu da Estância. From this point in Mampituba, we'll leave for the Itaimbezinho Canyon.

After an hour's drive, we'll arrive at the foot of the Serra do Faxinal, where the old Tropeiros Route begins. We'll explore the history of the tropeiros of Brazil as we walk the 3 kilometres (1.8 miles) of this trail along the Itaimbezinho Canyon, leading us to the Elbow viewpoint.

From this vantage point, you will see the towering walls reaching heights of 700 meters (2,296 feet), an extensive 5.8-kilometre (3.6 miles) gorge, and a maximum gap of 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) between rock formations. After the vistas, we'll embark on a 1.5-kilometer (0.9 miles) walk to the Vértice viewpoint, where you'll see the Andorinhas and Véu da Noiva waterfalls.

We'll continue along the Itaimbezinho canyon, visiting the Casa da Vó Maria, built in 1945 , now a craft store offering snacks and drinks.

From Casa da Vó Maria, we'll walk back to the starting point of the trekking route. Our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to the meeting point in Mampituba, arriving 6 hours after pickup.
