If you're in Mampituba, you cannot miss this day trip to the Itaimbezinho Canyon - see incredible landscapes with epic rock walls and beautiful waterfalls.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Sítio Cultural Museu da Estância. From this point in Mampituba, we'll leave for the Itaimbezinho Canyon, one of the natural treasures of southern Brazil.

After an hour's drive, we'll arrive at the foot of the Serra do Faxinal, where the old Tropeiros Route begins. We'll walk 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) along this trail, learning about the history of the tropeiros of Brazil, leading us to the Elbow viewpoint.

From this vantage point, you'll see the Itambem Canyon with walls reaching heights of 700 meters (2,296 feet) and a gorge extending 5.8 kilometers (3.6 miles) with a maximum gap of 2 kilometers (1.2 miles). We'll then embark on a 1.5-kilometer (0.9 miles) walk to the Vértice viewpoint to view the Andorinhas and Véu da Noiva waterfalls.

Continuing along the Itaimbezinho Canyon, we'll visit the Casa da Vó Maria, built in 1945, currently housing a craft store, snacks, and drinks.

From Casa da Vó Maria, we'll walk back to the starting point of the trekking route. Our vehicle will then take us back to the meeting point in Mampituba, arriving 6 hours after pickup.
