Itaimbezinho Canyon Day Trip

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Sítio Cultural Museu da Estância. From here, we'll depart for the Itaimbezinho Canyon, a notable natural landmark of southern Brazil.

After an hour's drive, we'll arrive at the foot of the Serra do Faxinal, where the old Tropeiros Route begins. We'll explore the history of the tropeiros of Brazil during our 3-kilometre (1.8 miles) trek along the Itaimbezinho Canyon leading to the Elbow viewpoint.

From this viewpoint, you'll see the immense scale of the Itaimbezinho canyon, with walls reaching heights of 700 meters (2,296 feet), a 5.8-kilometre (3.6 miles) gorge, and a maximum gap of 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) between rocky formations. After enjoying these vistas, we'll continue with a 1.5-kilometer (0.9 miles) walk to reach the Vértice viewpoint, where you can view the Andorinhas and Véu da Noiva waterfalls.

Next, we will visit the Casa da Vó Maria, a house established in 1945 that features a craft store, snacks, and drinks. From there, we will return to the starting point of the trekking route. Our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to the meeting point in Mampituba, arriving 6 hours after pickup.
