On this intertropical tour of the Mangroves of Tumbes National Sanctuary, we'll explore a unique ecosystem while visiting popular islets in the area.
Tour Details
After hotel pickup in Mancora at the designated time, we will travel to Tumbes, a coastal town in the extreme northwest of Peru.
We will proceed by road to Puerto Pizarro, known for its impressive mangrove forests, characteristic of intertropical South America. This ecosystem extends from the Gulf of Guayaquil to Playa Hermosa, forming passable water channels on the Tumbes River delta.
We'll visit several mangrove islets, starting with the Isla de los Pajaros (Bird Island), known for its indigenous bird population. Additionally, we will pass by La Isla Hueso de Ballena (Whale Bone Island), offering beach access for swimming, and make a stop at La Isla del Amor (Love Island), where you can relax and sample local gastronomy.
Before returning to Mancora, we will visit the main square in Tumbes and stop at La Playa de Amotape (Amotape Beach), noted for its turquoise waters.
We will return to Mancora, dropping you off at your hotel 8 hours after pickup.
