Discover the enchanting sights of the Risaralda department on our day trip to Guática and Quinchía, departing from Manizales. This experience promises a deep dive into the rich culture of the area, as we explore its charming villages.

Guática & Quinchía Day Trip

Your adventure will commence at 7 am with a pickup from your hotel in Manizales, followed by a scenic drive towards the Department of Risaralda, located in the northwest of Colombia.

We will embark on a 2-hour and 30-minute jeep ride to reach Quinchía, our first destination. Nestled among rolling hills, this village boasts an impressive mix of natural beauty and cultural significance. In 1985, it was recognized as the Most Beautiful Town in Risaralda.

Upon arrival, we will explore the Tierras de Xixarca Archaeological Museum, home to a notable collection of artifacts from the ancient Quimbaya civilization. As we navigate through the museum's various exhibits, we will uncover the history and traditions of this indigenous community.

Following our museum visit, we will make our way to a filigree workshop, where skilled artisans will demonstrate the craftsmanship behind Quinchía's traditional handicrafts, created with intricate techniques in goldsmithing.

A break for a traditional local lunch will follow, featuring a single course and a drink. Once we’ve replenished our energy, we will head towards Guática, enjoying the stunning landscapes characteristic of northern Risaralda.

Founded in 1638 by indigenous settlers under the leadership of the cacique Guática, this town is particularly renowned for its silk production. The community cultivates mulberry trees and nurtures silkworms to produce high-quality silk, which is then skillfully transformed into fabrics.

During our visit, we will gain insight into the meticulous process of silk production. You will also have time to shop for local crafts before returning to Manizales, with an estimated drop-off at your hotel by 4 pm.
