The main sights in the Colombian department of Risaralda await on our Guática & Quinchía Day Trip from Manizales. We'll immerse ourselves in the culture of this region and visit its most beautiful villages.
Guática & Quinchía Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Manizales and drive to the Department of Risaralda in northwest Colombia.
Our tour will begin with a 2-hour 30-minute jeep ride to Quinchía, the first village we'll visit, known for its natural and cultural heritage. It was awarded the title of Most Beautiful Town in Risaralda in 1985.
After visiting Quinchía, we'll enter the Tierras de Xixarca Archaeological Museum, which houses an important collection of unique objects from the Quimbaya civilization. We'll learn about the history of this indigenous group.
Next, we'll visit a filigree workshop to observe local craftspeople creating traditional handicrafts using goldsmithing techniques.
A traditional local lunch will be provided, consisting of one course and a drink. Following lunch, we'll head to Guática through the northern Risaralda landscapes.
This town, founded in 1638 by indigenous peoples led by cacique Guática, is known for its silk production, involving the planting of mulberry trees and the raising of worms for high-quality silk used in fabrics.
You'll learn about this silk production process and have time for shopping before we return to Manizales, arriving at your hotel around 4 pm.
Tour without lunch
If you'd prefer to bring your own lunch, this option allows you to eat it before the visit to Guática.
