On our day trip to La Virginia and El Guásimo from Manizales, we'll explore one of the protected areas in the Risaralda Department, combining sport and culture.
La Virginia & El Guásimo Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Manizales and travel to the Risaralda Department. Our first stop will be the El Guásimo Nature Reserve, situated between the Cauca and Risaralda rivers, dedicated to preserving forest biodiversity. The reserve spans 1400 hectares, with 400 hectares of dry tropical forest, the only one in the Andean region.
Upon arrival, we'll embark on a 3-hour hike through lush vegetation, reaching the Cauca River before continuing for another hour. A break will follow, featuring a traditional local lunch, including a main course and a drink.
After lunch, we'll head to the municipality of La Virginia, where we will learn about the local economy, centered around coffee and fruit tree plantations.
We will return to Manizales and drop you off at your hotel around 1 pm.
Tour without lunch
If you prefer to bring your own lunch, you may do so. You'll have time to eat before visiting La Virginia.
