By booking this day trip to Marsella, you'll discover one of the most traditional cities in Colombia and learn how to make artisan chocolate.
Marsella Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Manizales and drive to the municipality of Marsella in the department of Risaralda.
We will pass through the coffee plantations of the Cauca River Valley. Upon arrival in Marsella, we will visit an agricultural farm and enjoy an aperitif of patacones con hogao, a local sauce.
A tour of the farm will follow, including a visit to fruit trees and cocoa crops. You will participate in an organic chocolate-making workshop, where you will extract cocoa beans, roast, and grind them, culminating in the preparation of a chocolate drink.
This drink will be served with a regional lunch featuring a typical dish such as "sancocho", made with chicken and local products.
Next, we will head to the village, stopping for a cup of Colombian coffee in the main square. We will explore the colonial architecture, including the Casa de la Cultura, recognized as a National Heritage Site.
We will also visit the Botanical Garden for a walk and the José María Cemetery, a notable site in Marsella.
We will return to Manizales and drop you off at your hotel at 4:30 pm.
