By booking this day trip to Marsella, you'll discover one of the traditional cities in Colombia and learn to make artisan chocolate.
Marsella Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Manizales and drive to the municipality of Marsella in the department of Risaralda. Along the way, we'll pass through the coffee plantations of the Cauca River Valley.
Upon arrival in Marsella, we'll visit an agricultural farm where we'll start with an aperitif of patacones con hogao. A farm tour will follow, showcasing fruit trees and cocoa crops. You will participate in an organic chocolate-making workshop, where you'll extract cocoa beans, roast, and grind them. We will use the juice obtained to prepare a chocolate drink.
This drink will be paired with a regional lunch, featuring a typical dish like "sancocho" made with chicken and farm produce.
Next, we will drive to the village and stop for Colombian coffee in the main square. We will explore Marsella's colonial architecture, including the Casa de la Cultura, a museum designated as a National Heritage Site.
Additional visits will include the Botanical Garden for a relaxing walk and the José María Cemetery, a popular site in Marsella.
We will return to Manizales, dropping you off at your hotel at 4:30 pm.
