Panela Tour
At 8 am, we'll meet you at your hotel in Manizales and drive to an agricultural farm located approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away. Upon arrival, we'll tour the sugar cane plantation where panela, a key ingredient in Colombian gastronomy, is extracted. Additionally, we will visit a trapiche, a traditional mill still in use for producing this natural sweetener.
Panela is commonly found in Colombian desserts and drinks, such as aguapanela, guarapo, and chicha. We will learn about the production process from cultivation to the solidification of the sugar cane juice. After touring the plantations, we'll head to a natural area for a pleasant walk. You will then have free time for lunch and to explore the reserve before returning to Manizales.
We will return to your hotel, arriving by 4 pm.
