Merzouga to Fez Trip: 3 Days

Head into the immensity of the desert and enjoy a unique adventure visiting locations like Ouarzazate and the Erg Chebbi dunes with this 3-day trip through Merzouga to Fez.

Trip Description

Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley

We will leave Marrakech for Ouarzazate, a journey of approximately 4 hours, crossing the Atlas and Tizi n'Tichka pass. We will stop at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and then continue to Ouarzazate to see the Kasbah of Taourirt. Afterward, we will travel along the Thousand Kasbahs Road towards Skoura, arriving in the Dades Valley around sunset. Our first night's accommodation will be in Dades or possibly Skoura.

Day 2: Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Merzouga

After breakfast, we will explore the Dades Gorges and the Todra Gorges, enjoying panoramic views. We will continue to Merzouga via the Jorf Palm Grove, with a lunch break before arriving in Erfoud, known for fossil fragments. In Merzouga, participants can choose between a camel ride or a quad bike tour (cost incurred by participants). At the camp, we will have a Moroccan dinner under the stars.

Day 3: Rissani - Ziz Valley - Middle Atlas - Fez

We will start the day by witnessing sunrise in the desert, followed by breakfast and a camel ride. We will then travel to Fez, passing through Tafilalet and Rissani, stopping at Azrou and Ifrane to visit the monkey forest. We expect to arrive in Fez around 6 pm. The journey can be made by taxi with a driver who speaks English, Spanish, or French, depending on availability.

Tour Accommodation

On the first night, we will stay in Dades at accommodations such as Dar Essyaha or similar. The second night will be at a haima camp in Merzouga, where standard accommodations have shared bathrooms for a maximum of 4 people, while superior options provide private bathrooms for up to 5 people. Luxury camps may incur an additional charge for air-conditioning, and not all camps offer wifi. Room options include double, triple, or family rooms.
