Airboat Trip in Barataria Preserve

Prepare to embark on a thrilling exploration of Louisiana's breathtaking bayou with an exciting airboat adventure. This unique hovercraft experience will take you to secluded areas that conventional boats cannot access, and, if fortune favors us, you may catch a glimpse of alligators in their natural habitat.

Airboat Journey in Barataria Preserve

Get ready to encounter a variety of vibrant bayou wildlife, including ospreys, pelicans, frogs, turtles, owls, and snakes. We will meet at the designated spot on Barataria Boulevard at your selected time, where we will hop aboard the airboat to set off on a tour through the swamps of Barataria Preserve.

As we glide across the marshes that are part of the Jean Lafitte National Park, you will witness this extraordinary ecosystem up close.

The thrill of the hovercraft adds an adventurous twist to our journey as we can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. In certain areas, we will slow down to allow you to capture the stunning landscape with your camera. The airboat will navigate to hidden areas of the reserve that cannot be accessed by traditional watercraft, providing an unforgettable experience!

Throughout the ride, the captain will share insights into the local culture and lifestyle, as well as the strategies fishermen employ to thrive in a region known for its hungry alligators.

The tour will conclude approximately an hour and forty minutes after we commence our adventure.

Airboat Capacity

There are two types of airboats available for this tour: a standard model accommodating up to 16 passengers, and a smaller one that seats up to 9 individuals. While you will be sharing the experience with fellow travelers, the smaller group option offers a more tailored route and narrative.

Children Under 17

Participants under the age of 17 are welcome as long as they exceed 4 feet (122 centimeters) in height. Unfortunately, those shorter than this will not be permitted to join the airboat adventure.

Hotel Pickup

If it suits your plans better, you may opt for a hotel pickup service. We will collect you one and a half hours before the airboat ride begins, and after the tour concludes, we will return you to your accommodation in New Orleans.

Oak Alley Plantation

Enhance your trip by choosing the airboat ride combined with a visit to Oak Alley Plantation. This option includes hotel pickup and drop-off, the services of an English-speaking guide, and admission to the historic plantation. The schedule will be adjusted to start with a guided tour of the mansion, followed by the airboat excursion through the reserve.

Be aware that this extended tour lasts for 9 hours.
