Great Pond of Marsala Kayaking Tour

At 8:30 am, we'll meet at Contrada Spagnola. From here, we'll start an 11 km circle tour that will take us to discover the Great Pond of Marsala, also known as the Stagnone Reserve.

Before getting into the kayaks, we will provide tips to learn paddling techniques and review basic safety rules. Then, we will be ready for our water adventure.

During the kayak tour, we will discover the main islands of this lagoon, including the Big Island, La Schola, and Santa Maria. We will see the salt pans and beaches, learn about the vegetation and wildlife, and learn interesting facts about its history as we pass by its ruins.

We will have several stops to relax in the natural surroundings and refuel with snacks, such as cunzato bread, fruit, and sweets.

Next, we will visit the island of San Pantaleon, home to significant archaeological sites of Phoenician origin. We will discuss the ancient city of Motia and see the remains of walls, causeways, and other constructions of historical value.

Lastly, we will finish the kayak tour five hours later, arriving back at the starting point.
