Marsala Salt Pans Tour

At the scheduled time, we'll meet inside the windmill of the Ettore e Infersa to begin our tour. These salt pans, located within the Stagnon Nature Reserve, are a significant financial resource for the city and region and provide a habitat for various migratory bird species. Prepare to observe diverse fauna and flora.

The tour will begin at the windmill in Infersa, where you will learn about sea salt production and collection through videos and an explanation of the structure's operation. This windmill is the only one functioning in the province of Trapani and is one of the few still operational in Italy, dating back to the 16th century.

Following the tour, we will visit the salt pans of the mill, walking along the shores between the pools while sharing information about manual salt collection. The product has a Protected Geographical Indication due to its centuries-old extraction technique.

Throughout the tour, the changing colors of the pools will enhance the experience. At sunset, expect pink and orange hues against the Mediterranean Sea, while daylight illuminates the salt mounds, creating a surreal landscape. This is an ideal opportunity for photographs.

After this 1-hour tour, we will conclude the activity and say our goodbyes.
