Matera Tuk-Tuk Tour

Meet your guide in Via Alessandro Volta and board your tuk-tuk, also known as an "Ape calessino"? in Italian, to start your tour of historic Matera. Throughout your tuk-tuk tour, you will have multiple stops at important sites for exploration and photography. Your first stop is the Church of Purgatory, built in 1747, notable for its architectural references to death, including skulls and skeletons on the façade.

Next, you will visit Matera Cathedral, located at the city's highest point, featuring a 52-metre-tall (170 feet) belfry and seven bells that resonate throughout Matera. Continuing the journey, you will head to the Church of San Giovanni before exploring the Sasso Barisano and Sasso Cavoso neighbourhoods. These districts are known for the UNESCO World Heritage Site 'sassi di Matera', rock-hewn houses that resemble Jerusalem, often used in films like Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.

The tour concludes at Piazza San Francesco after an immersive 50-minute tuk-tuk tour.
