1873 Observatory Ticket
Built by Mazatlán residents, the 1873 Observatory is located on the Cerro del Vigía, 246 feet (75 meters) above sea level. Your self-guided visit starts with a short film about Mazatlán. Following this, you will use the Observatory's funicular, awarded Project of the Year by Elevator World magazine in 2021.
During the funicular ride, visit a house-museum with 19th-century furniture and a distillery featuring a mezcal simulator. Don't miss the El Nido bird sanctuary, home to over 70 species including macaws, parrots, flamingos, and turtles.
Additional highlights include the Cueva del Patrón, a former dungeon, and the agaviarium, located in front of the largest natural lighthouse in the world.
