Mazatlán Whale Watching Tour + Whale Museum

Activity Overview

At the agreed-upon time, you'll be collected from your hotel and transported to the Mazatlán Marina. There, the journey begins with an exhilarating speedboat ride across the waves as we search for the magnificent humpback whales that migrate through the Gulf of California.

Accompanying us will be a marine biodiversity specialist who will assist in recognizing the various species we encounter. Stay alert as we navigate the Pacific waters – the sight of a humpback whale leaping from the ocean is one that will remain etched in your memory. Be sure to have your camera on hand to capture every breathtaking moment.

While we traverse the Mazatlán coastline, we may also be fortunate to spot other local wildlife, such as dolphins, sea turtles, sea lions, and manta rays.

Alongside enjoying the beautiful scenery and marine life, participants will engage in real-time monitoring projects, learning to identify the diverse marine species found in Mazatlán’s waters and contributing to the study of whale behavior with our team.

This experience also plays a vital role in supporting local initiatives for whale rescue, beach clean-ups, and environmental education, providing a meaningful connection with nature!

After the adventure, we'll return to the harbor to conclude the activity. Once ashore, we will transport you back to your hotel, bringing the experience to a close approximately three hours later.

Whale sightings are quite common around Mazatlán. However, please note that wildlife is unpredictable. Encountering whales depends on various factors, including weather conditions, ocean currents, and wind patterns, so we cannot guarantee the appearance of any specific whale species.

Whale Museum Access

To further enhance your knowledge of these remarkable creatures, you will receive tickets to visit the MUNBA, the Whale Museum. This venue is an excellent resource for learning about whales, their role in the Mexican Pacific, and their impact on the marine ecosystem.

The tickets can be redeemed at any time during your stay in Mazatlán. They will be provided to you at the conclusion of the whale watching excursion.
