Guatapé Day Trip

We will meet at the chosen meeting point and depart Medellín heading east. The trip to Guatapé takes approximately two and a half hours, featuring mountainous landscapes of eastern Antioquia. A stop will be made for breakfast with two options and a vegetarian choice.

Next, we will visit Piedra de El Peñol, also known as El Peñón of Guatapé, an enormous monolith over 200 meters (656 feet) tall. Participants will have an hour and a half of free time to climb the 740 steps for panoramic views over the Peñol Reservoir.

A full traditional lunch will be served at a nearby restaurant, with a selection of three dishes, followed by a rumbero boat ride on the Peñol reservoir for 40 minutes, featuring a festive atmosphere.

The tour includes a guided walking tour of Guatapé, showcasing landmarks like the Church of Our Lady of Carmen and the colorful Plaza de los Zócalos. Afterward, there will be an hour of free time to explore the town. The excursion concludes with a return to Medellín after approximately 12 hours.

Lunch

Lunch includes a choice of three menu options:

Menu 1: rice, salad, potatoes, patacón (fried plantain), and trout.Menu 2: same as Menu 1, but with grilled chicken instead of trout.Menu 3: bandeja paisa.

A vegetarian menu is available, featuring bean soup, rice, salad, patacón, eggs, avocado, and arepas. All dishes are served with aguapanela or sugarcane water with lemon.
