Join us for a journey through Antioquia to savor authentic Colombian cuisine on this food tour of Guatapé. We'll explore towns like Marinilla and El Peñol, and enjoy a boat ride during this full-day experience.
Tour Details
We'll meet at the designated time in El Poblado Park. Our route includes Marinilla, El Peñol, and Alto del Chocho.
Our adventure begins in the Antioquia tunnel, the longest in Colombia. Next, we visit the town of Marinilla, recognized as Medellín's agricultural center, for a tasting of strawberries, harvested by local families.
Continuing to El Alto del Chocho, we will taste pan bobo paired with a traditional chocolate drink. As we approach El Peñol, we will enjoy the flavor of tree tomatoes with sweet traditional panela.
In Guatapé, we will take a serene cruise on the Peñol-Guatapé reservoir, learning about the area’s history and viewing notable residences while enjoying “fiambre antioqueño”, a dish with rice, pork rinds, ground meat, veggies, eggs, and sausage.
After the boat trip, we will have "solteritas," cream cookies and an hour of free time in Guatapé to explore Zócalos Square and Nuestra Señora del Carmen church.
Next, we will visit the Piedra del Peñol, a 220-meter (721 feet) natural monument, for two hours. You can climb to the top or enjoy the views from the base.
On our return to Medellín, we will stop for a tasting of Siete Cueros cheese. After an excursion lasting eight to ten hours, we will conclude back at the starting point.
