Join us for a journey through Antioquia on this food tour of Guatapé. We'll explore towns like Marinilla and El Peñol, including a boat ride.
Tour Details
Meeting point is at 9th Street in Medellín, near El Poblado Park. The route includes Marinilla, El Peñol, and Alto del Chocho.
We'll begin by traveling through the Antioquia tunnel, the longest in Colombia. Our first stop is Marinilla, known for its strawberry tasting from local families. Next, at Alto del Chocho, we'll enjoy pan bobo with a chocolate drink.
We will proceed to El Peñol to taste tree tomatoes with sweet panela while admiring the village statue.
In Guatapé, we'll board a boat for a cruise on the Peñol-Guatapé reservoir where we'll learn about the area's history. A highlight includes trying "fiambre antioqueño," a dish of rice, pork rinds, ground meat, veggies, eggs, and sausage.
After the cruise, we'll have "solteritas," cream cookies, followed by one hour of free time in Guatapé to explore Zócalos Square and Nuestra Señora del Carmen church.
Our next stop is the Piedra del Peñol, a 220-meter (721 feet) monolith offering panoramic views. You can climb to the top or enjoy the views from below.
On the return to Medellín, we'll stop for a tasting of Siete Cueros cheese.
The tour lasts between eight to ten hours, concluding back at the starting point.
