Hike El Tambo Trail

On this hike, along the El Tambo trail, we'll trace a historic route of San Luis, taking you through one of the most beautiful areas in Antioquia.

Description

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Medellín at the indicated time to start a hike with stunning landscapes. Our journey begins with a visit to the charming town of San Luis, our starting point for a 12-kilometer (7.4 miles) trek along the El Tambo trail. This medium to high-difficulty hike will lead us up to 1450 meters (4757 feet) above sea level.

As we traverse one of the ancient trails once used by the founders of San Luis, we will explore a lush tropical rainforest, observing the rich biodiversity of Antioquia. We will discuss common species and may spot them along the route.

Continuing along the trail, we will reach a natural pool for a refreshing dip. We will have a break for lunch in this scenic spot, featuring cold meats and fresh fruit. After lunch, we will return to the town of San Luis.

Upon arriving back at San Luis, we will conclude our journey back to your hotel in Medellín after an 11-hour adventure in the Colombian rainforest.
