Meissen's Porcelain Museum
The first porcelain factory in Europe was established in Meissen. Visiting Meissen's Porcelain Museum allows you to learn about this factory and view some of its most famous products.
During your visit, you can explore various rooms at your own pace in this important exhibition that details the history of Meissen's porcelain. Expect to see monumental sculptures, cups of tea, plates, vases, and many other decorated pieces.
Informative panels and audiovisual documents will provide insights into the history of this firm, its Eastern influences, and connections to royalty. You will also uncover the biography of Johann Friedrich Böttger, a recognized alchemist and inventor of porcelain in Meissen.
In addition to access to the museum, you will have entry to its workshops, where you can observe the production process from the potter's wheel to painting. An audio guide in English enhances this part of the exhibition.
