Melfi, Venosa y Lagopesole Private Tour

On this private tour through Melfi, Venosa, and Lagopesole, we will explore significant archaeological sites in Basilicata and the Vulture region.

We will meet at the Castle of Melfi and follow the guide in your vehicle to iconic locations in the Mount Vulture area, starting with Venosa and its archaeological museum, which displays remnants from the ancient Roman colony of Venusia, founded in 291 B.C. You will walk through the ancient city streets, observing the baths and a domus adorned with mosaics.

During the visit, we will also see the abbey of the Holy Trinity and learn about its history before proceeding to Melfi. Here, we will tour the Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral and the castle of Frederick II, which houses the National Archaeological Museum of Melfese featuring artifacts from the Archaic, Classical, and Roman periods.

We will take a break for a meal during the tour. The final stop will be Lagopesole, linked to Frederick II and his son Manfredi, where we will explore notable historical events and visit its castle.

The private tour will conclude at the starting point in Melfi, approximately eight to nine hours after the tour begins.
