Melfi, Venosa y Lagopesole Private Tour
On this private tour, we will explore the archaeological sites of Basilicata and the Vulture region, starting at the Castle of Melfi. Participants will follow the guide in their own vehicle to visit key sites in the Mount Vulture area, beginning with Venosa and its archaeological museum.
The tour begins in Venosa, where we will visit the archaeological museum, home to remains of the ancient Roman colony of Venusia, founded in 291 B.C. Our walk will include streets of the ancient city, the baths, and a domus decorated with mosaics, set against the backdrop of the abbey of the Holy Trinity, where we will learn about its history.
Next, we will return to Melfi to discover its heritage, visiting the Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral with its white stone façade and the castle of Frederick II, which houses the National Archaeological Museum of Melfese, featuring finds from the Archaic, Classical, and Roman periods.
The tour includes a break for participants to have a meal at their leisure. The final stop will be in Lagopesole, closely linked to Frederick II and his son Manfredi, where we will examine significant historical events and visit the village's castle.
The private tour concludes back at the starting point in Melfi, lasting between eight and nine hours in total.
