Description
We'll start our adventure with a pickup at your hotel in Mérida, embarking on an excursion to Motul and Izamal. Are you excited to discover two delightful towns in the Yucatán peninsula? Let’s begin our day!
Our first stop will be the charming town of Motul. Feeling hungry? Upon arrival, we’ll explore the local market to sample the renowned eggs from Motul, a perfect way to fuel your energy!
After satisfying our hunger, we will make our way to the Sambulá Cenote, a natural wonder. If you’re up for it, a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear waters awaits. Next, we will visit the Museum of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, home to artifacts and records of the notable figure known as the martyr of the proletariado nacional, an important personality in Yucatán's history.
Continuing on, we’ll journey southeast to the magical town of Izamal. Can you envision an entire town painted in vibrant yellow? Here, we will discover the buildings and homes of what is often referred to as the Golden City of Yucatan, which embraced this color in 1993 to celebrate the visit of Pope John Paul II.
While wandering through the streets, we will uncover the rich history of the City of the Three Cultures. The colonial houses will transport us back to the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Our exploration will include a visit to the San Antonio de Padua Monastery, constructed using stones from an ancient Mayan pyramid.
To conclude our journey, we will visit the Kinich Kakmó Pyramid, a significant structure within Mesoamerica. Delve into the intriguing history surrounding this archaeological marvel, dedicated to its namesake Mayan deity.
Finally, we will return to Mérida, wrapping up the tour at your hotel after an enriching 8 hours of exploration.
