Izamal Day Trip + Light & Sound Show

On this excursion to Izamal, we'll explore this Pueblo Mágico and enjoy the light and sound show organised in its historic centre.

Description

At the indicated time we'll pick you up at your hotel in Merida and drive by minibus towards Izamal, arriving after about 1.5 hours.

Upon arrival, we'll approach the Kinich Kakmó Pyramid, which pays homage to the Maya sun god, offering a panoramic view of the historical centre, notable for its yellow houses. We will discuss the influence of Pope John Paul II on this colour.

Next, we'll visit the Convent of San Antonio de Padua, located near the main square of Izamal. This 16th-century Franciscan convent is considered one of the most significant historical monuments of Yucatan.

We'll also visit a craft workshop, enjoy a typical dish at a traditional restaurant, and attend the light and sound show in Izamal. The colourful projections on the yellow façade of the Convent of San Antonio de Padua will blend audiovisuals, architecture, and history.

After the show, we'll return to Mérida, dropping you off at your hotel approximately 10 hours after the initial pickup.
