On this free tour of Mérida, we'll discover the rich monumental heritage that lies in the historic capital of Yucatán.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet in front of the Montejo Museum-House to begin our free tour of Mérida. We will explore the 16th-century Montejo House, declared a Historical Monument, and learn about the Montejo family history.
Next, at Plaza Grande Square, we will view the façade of the Yucatán Cathedral, dedicated to San Idelfonso, and learn about the city's Spanish heritage.
The tour continues at the Government Palace of the State of Yucatán, built in an eclectic classical style, followed by a stop at the Gran Hotel de Mérida.
We will proceed to the Parque de la Madre (Mother's Park), a monument dedicated to motherhood, and view the José Peón Contreras Theatre to discover its historical significance. The tour will then lead us to the Parque de Santa Lucía Square, known for its two giant white benches.
After 2 hours, we will conclude our tour of Mérida.
