On this free tour of Mérida, we will explore the monumental heritage of the historic capital of Yucatán.
Description
We will meet at the scheduled time in front of the Montejo Museum-House to start our free tour of Mérida. We will learn about the 16th-century construction, which is a Historical Monument. The history of the Montejo family will also be discussed.
Next, we will visit Plaza Grande Square to see the façade of the Yucatán Cathedral. The gable wall, dedicated to San Idelfonso, will provide insights into the city's Spanish heritage.
We will then stop at the Government Palace of the State of Yucatán, built in an eclectic classical style. Nearby is the Gran Hotel de Mérida, known for its significance in the city.
After this, we will head to Parque de la Madre, a monument dedicated to motherhood. Opposite this park is the José Peón Contreras Theatre, where we will discuss the achievements of this notable Mexican figure. The tour will continue at Parque de Santa Lucía Square, known for its two giant white benches.
Our enriching 2-hour tour of Mérida will conclude after these visits.
