On this day trip from Mérida, we'll visit the Meteorite Museum and the Jurassic Trail.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Mérida and head for the coastal town of Progreso. Here, we'll travel back in time to 66 million years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.
Our first stop will be the Meteorite Museum, where we'll visit 8 rooms providing insights into the asteroid that fell in this area, creating the Chicxulub crater, which is over 180 kilometers (111 miles) in diameter and is the largest in the world. This meteorite caused the extinction of numerous species on Earth. Exhibits include fossils, dinosaur recreations, and virtual reality digital exhibits. There is also a lookout point offering views of the Caribbean Sea and a cenote.
After, we will visit the Jurassic Trail, a theme park located in the port of Chicxulub, featuring numerous life-size dinosaur recreations. Velociraptors, Bachiosaurus, Triceratops, Dakotaraptor, and the T-Rex are among the species displayed.
Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Mérida, concluding the tour after 4 hours of activity.
