Would you like to know the secrets of the Mayan culture? On this tour to Uxmal from Merida, we'll visit the archaeological site which is part of the Puuc Route and the ancient Hacienda Yaxcopoil.

Description

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Merida and drive to Hacienda Yaxcopoil to learn about the culture and traditions of the area. The name in Mayan means "place of the green poplars." We'll discuss the history of this estate, highlighting pre-Hispanic life, colonial life, and the henequen boom.

Next, we'll head to Uxmal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There we'll visit the main remains, such as the Pyramid of the Soothsayer, the Nun's Quadrangle, the Ball Court, and the Governor's Palace.

After exploring Uxmal, we'll visit a cenote for a refreshing dip. Afterwards, we'll go to a neighboring village to meet with a local chef, who will teach us several typical recipes of Mayan cuisine.

We'll have a Yucatecan lunch, choosing from several typical dishes. If the weather does not permit an outdoor class, we'll enjoy lunch in a restaurant.

Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Merida, arriving 9 hours after pickup.
